Summer News:
What a difference a year makes. Last year I saw many babies in arms and pregnant mothers at playgroup, one year later at the Tree House these children were toddling along spilling out balls from our famous Monte Ball Drop game to climbing up on the lily pond. What a difference a year makes.
There have been children of KFRC staff that in the last year that turned 16 and got their drivers license, turn 18 and graduated from high school, and turned 21 and became an adult in the eyes of the local pubs! What a difference a year makes.
There are those of us here that received their AARP card in the mail. What a difference a year makes.
And there are those children who this year turned 5, the magic number to graduate from KFRC programming. Why 5? While we know it may be not be convenient for families with older children to attend Playgroups or the Tree House, there is a big difference in the way a 5 year old plays and the way a toddler plays. And while we do wish we could be everything to everybody, the KFRC is committed to establishing and enforcing best practices for early child development in our programs.
In an effort to meet the needs of families with older children, Playtime in the Park is available. During the school year we will be happy to post developmental opportunities for 5 year olds and even help establish a parent to parent group that can help problem solve and plan activities for our home schooled and non kindergarten 5 year olds. Please feel free to contact me if you have any interest in this. And lastly, just stop and look around you when you are watching children play and think about what a difference a year makes.
KFRC is not accepting clothing items for the baby closet at this time. Please do not drop off items without an appointment. Please call us at 482-9363.
Please remember that when schools are canceled or have a late start due to the weather, KFRC playgroups are also canceled. We will try to put all cancellations on the website. If you are unsure of a cancellation, please turn to WOLV radio stations or website
